Medical &
Participation Waiver

At The Surrey Circus Centre, safety is our top priority. Circus and aerial activities are physically demanding, and while we take every reasonable precaution, all movement activities carry some risk of bumps, bruises, or injury.

What parents and participants need to know
-
Classes, workshops, private lessons and open practice involve physical effort and carry some risk, even when safety equipment is used correctly.
-
Participants should be in good health, disclose any relevant medical conditions, and avoid training if unwell or under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
-
Our instructors create a safe and supportive environment, but they are not medical professionals. If an accident or illness occurs, assistance may include basic first aid and calling emergency services.
-
Warm-up is essential — anyone arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be able to join.
-
Correct clothing must be worn (close-fitting, no jewellery, knees covered, long hair tied back).
-
Equipment must only be used when authorised, and independent training is at the participant’s own responsibility.

For professional/open training users
-
You must hold valid and up-to-date Public Liability Insurance (PLI). Proof must be provided to SCC and kept current.
-
SCC will not prompt you to renew your insurance — this is your responsibility.
-
The hire of the church hall is a contract directly with the church. SCC is not responsible for the condition or management of the venue.

Liability
We take great care to provide a safe space, but no activity is risk-free. The Surrey Circus Centre, its owner (Alissa Blackledge), and freelance teachers are not liable for accidents, injuries, loss, or damage except where required by law. Belongings are brought at your own risk.

Agreement

By booking a class, workshop, party, private lesson, or open practice, you agree to our full Medical & Participation Waiver.
